My Space Dream

ESA’s contest to challenge your imagination

ESA is the European Space Agency, composed of 22 Member States.
Its mission is to develop space missions and to carry them out.

The objective of these top-class programmes is to learn more about Earth, its near-spatial environment, our Solar System and the Universe. Our missions also help to conceive state-of-the-art technologies and satellite services, as well as promoting European industry.

So that space discoveries benefit the whole of humankind, ESA works in cooperation with other space organisations beyond Europe. ESA also wants to share the knowledge of space and its everyday applications with everyone and invite you to share in the conversation. That’s why ESA initiated the My Space Dream contest: to hear your dreams and expectations of European space programmes so we can work on them every day.

ESA today: road to the Space19+ Ministerial meeting

Every four years, the European ministers in charge of the space policy of their respective countries meet. During these ministerial meetings, ESA presents its programme for the years to come, and the big decisions concerning the future of space in Europe are made.
The next ministerial meeting will take place in November 2019 in Seville, Spain, under the name of Space19+.

How to take part in this out of this world contest

Tell us your dream about space in the most creative way, through a video of no more than 30 seconds. Then complete the registration form to submit your entry.

A jury composed of ESA personalities will meet to study the 'Space Dreams' and choose three top prizewinners. You can also aim to win one of the 10 audience choice prizes by sharing your video to as many people you can, and gather as many ‘Likes’ as you can.

Win a visit to the European Astronaut Centre in Germany or to our Mission Control at the European Space Operations Centre and receive complete meals of astronaut food, just like our astronauts who travel to the International Space Station!

Let your imagination loose

Whether you are 7 or 77 years old, whether you are a European citizen or a citizen of the world, we are convinced that a space dreamer hides inside you!

Do you have your head in the stars...

Do you hope to advance the knowledge of the Universe and better understand what is happening on Earth, to explore the Solar System, or to discover a form of extraterrestrial life? For you then it’s all systems GO to conquer space!

Or are your feet firmly anchored on Earth?

You are convinced that it is more urgent to solve our beautiful blue planet's issues than to explore the expanse of the Universe, optimising weather forecasting techniques, identifying and regulating the effects of climate change... but space technology can help!

No matter what your Universe is, share your 30-second space dream with us.

How to make your video?

1) Introduce yourself
2) Tell us your Space Dream: whether it is generic or specific, tell us your one big idea and give free rein to your imagination!

Big ideas that you could choose to talk about include space science, space exploration, rockets, asteroids, space debris, solar activity, Earth observation, satellite telecommunication or even navigation systems!
